A 60-centimetre giant fibroid removed with the uterus preserved
In a 45-year-old patient who travelled from Batman to Istanbul, a fibroid about 60 centimetres in diameter and weighing 16.8 kilograms was removed in a 3–3.5 hour operation, with the aim of preserving the uterus.

Does a positive HPV result mean cancer?
No. HPV is a common virus and a positive result is not a cancer diagnosis on its own. Risk-based follow-up or treatment is planned according to the HPV type, smear result, age and colposcopy findings.
Is the uterus always removed in fibroid surgery?
No. Uterus-preserving myomectomy options are considered according to the location, number and size of the fibroids and the patient’s pregnancy plans. The same method may not suit every patient; the decision is made after examination and imaging.
Are LEEP and conization the same procedure?
No, they are different procedures. Both can be used for pre-cancerous lesions such as CIN 2 and CIN 3; the choice depends on the location and size of the lesion and the patient’s pregnancy plans.
Can I apply from abroad or from another city?
Yes. You can send your previous reports (imaging, pathology, smear/HPV) for an initial assessment. A physician’s examination is needed for any decision on surgery.
