Experience and approach
Prof. Dr. Hanifi Şahin is a physician working in obstetrics and gynecology, gynecologic oncology and advanced gynecologic surgery, with a particular focus on complex gynecologic operations and organ-preserving surgical approaches.
In gynecologic oncology he had the opportunity to work with Prof. Dr. Ali Ayhan, one of the leading scientists in Türkiye and worldwide, gaining experience in the surgical treatment of gynecologic cancers, advanced tumour surgery and multidisciplinary patient management.
Uterus-preserving fibroid surgery, deep endometriosis and adenomyosis surgery, laparoscopic and minimally invasive surgery, gynecologic cancer surgery, urogynecology and genital aesthetic surgery have an important place in his professional work.
Dr. Şahin also has advanced experience in rarely performed gynecologic surgeries (such as congenital absence of the vagina/uterus and urogenital sinus anomalies).
His main aim in surgery is to assess safe and effective treatment options suited to the characteristics of the disease in the light of scientific evidence, and, whenever possible, to preserve organ function and quality of life.
Alongside his academic work, Prof. Dr. Hanifi Şahin treats national and international patients at his private clinic in Istanbul. He is also President of the Colposcopy and HPV Association (KOHED).
Education and career
- 2007Graduated from Kocaeli University Faculty of Medicine; worked at Erzincan Otlukbeli State Hospital in 2007–2008.
- 2014Completed his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Mustafa Kemal University Faculty of Medicine; worked at Ankara Etimesgut State Hospital in 2014–2015.
- 2016–2017Worked in the Gynecologic Oncology Department of Başkent University Faculty of Medicine.
- 2018Became a gynecologic oncology surgery subspecialist at Ankara Dr. Zekai Tahir Burak Training and Research Hospital; worked at Malatya Training and Research Hospital in 2018–2019.
Surgical experience
Laparoscopic myomectomy and hysterectomy, laparoscopic sacrocolpopexy (uterine prolapse), laparoscopic endometrioma and deep endometriosis surgery, laparoscopic cystectomy, fimbrioplasty, salpingectomy, neosalpingostomy, laparoscopic oncologic operations, hysteroscopic adhesiolysis, septum resection, myomectomy and polypectomy.
